Right now, investors are awaiting further direction from the monetary policy decision from the Federal Reserve to be announced later this week. But the direction of monetary policy by the Fed seems pretty clear at this point. Most are betting that the Fed will keep its federal funds rate unchanged on Wednesday, and likely through the first quarter of 2024 as well. But make no mistake, interest rate cuts are coming at some point next year.  Historically, interest rate cuts are bullish for gold. And when interest rates stay higher for longer, pressure on financial markets and the real economy generally builds, creating more demand for safe haven assets.
